REFLECTION

Experience

Overall, this course was both challenging and rewarding. The workload at certain stages felt demanding, particularly when balanced alongside other modules; however, this pressure encouraged me to develop stronger time-management skills. As I progressed through each task, I became increasingly familiar with the design process and more confident in my ability to approach complex typographic problems independently. The iterative nature of the assignments allowed me to refine my work gradually and better understand the importance of experimentation and revision in design practice.

Observation

Through studying typography, I became more attentive to the use of type in everyday visual contexts, including posters, websites, and advertisements. I began to analyse how typography influences readability, hierarchy, and visual impact. Additionally, reviewing my classmates’ work exposed me to a variety of design approaches and conceptual interpretations. Observing these differences helped me recognise that typography can be expressed in multiple ways, depending on context, intention, and audience.

Finding

This course helped me realise that typography is not solely about aesthetics, but also about effective communication. Each typographic decision carries meaning and affects how information is perceived and understood. The learning experience encouraged me to think more critically about my design choices and to justify them with clear reasoning. As a result, I gained greater confidence in applying typographic principles to future projects and in developing more thoughtful, purposeful design outcomes.
